Punta Mita Peninsula- Sits at the north end of the horseshoe shaped Banderas Bay. Over 50 miles of beautiful shoreline, ranging from jagged cliffs to sandy beaches, with the city of Puerto Vallarta essentially in the center. What differentiates this bay from the many large shallow water bays of the world is its quantity of humpback whales, giant manta rays, dolphins, marlin, sailfish, and a myriad of other fine game fish that live in deep water. Not only does the bay average over 1,000 feet deep, but the water temperature, being on the same latitude as Hawaii, is ideal year round for these fish.
Outside Banderas Bay - Trophy fish generally prefer the cooler waters of the Pacific. Punta Mita fishing condos and marina puts you the closest to the trophy fish. That is why staying at the Punta Mita fishing condos is the easiest way to catch the big one. Whether Cobetena, The Banks, El Morro, El Faro or the Marietas Islands you get there first.
Inside Banderas Bay - You'll find a variety of fish. Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Sailfish, Wahoo, Snapper, Grouper, Roosterfish, Mackerel, Amberjack, and dozens of other varieties. Bottom fishing, trolling, or recreational fishing, this is a first class destination. You're likely to catch fish in the bay, but the fish will likely not be as large, and Marlin are less likely.
